Misconceptions

When applying for housing in Rochdale Village, it's common for applicants to have misconceptions about the application form. Here are nine prevalent misunderstandings, along with clarifications to help you navigate the process more effectively.

  1. Misconception 1: The application form is overly complicated.

While it may seem lengthy, the form is designed to gather essential information to assess eligibility and ensure a fair process.

  2. Misconception 2: You must have perfect credit to qualify.

Credit history is considered, but it is not the sole factor. The team evaluates applications holistically.

  3. Misconception 3: Submitting the application guarantees approval.

Submitting the form is just the first step. Approval depends on various criteria, including income and household size.

  4. Misconception 4: You can only apply during specific times of the year.

Applications are accepted year-round, allowing flexibility for potential residents.

  5. Misconception 5: All applications are processed in the order they are received.

While timely submission is important, applications are evaluated based on eligibility criteria rather than strictly by submission date.

  6. Misconception 6: You need to have a co-signer to apply.

A co-signer is not a requirement for all applicants. It may be necessary in some cases, particularly for those with limited income.

  7. Misconception 7: The application fee is non-refundable.

In many cases, the application fee is refundable if the application is not processed or if the applicant is not approved.

  8. Misconception 8: You cannot update your application once submitted.

Changes can be made to your application if you contact the office promptly after submission.

  9. Misconception 9: The application process takes forever.

While processing times can vary, many applications are reviewed promptly, and applicants are kept informed throughout the process.

Understanding these misconceptions can help streamline your application experience and set realistic expectations as you pursue housing in Rochdale Village.
